Thinking About A Butterfly Foot Tattoo?

Posted on 08 October 2008 by Tony

A couple of decades back, tattoos were a symbol of masculinity; tattoos also had a somewhat negative connotation among most people. Sure, tattoos enjoyed acceptance among tribes, but in the mainstream, people were a bit skeptical about tattoos. Most of us can still recall the time when tattoos were associated with gangs or people who cause trouble. Moreover, very few people entertained the idea that women could or should get tattoos; tattoos were deemed to be for men.

We have come a long way since the time that tattoos were primarily sported by tough-looking men. Nowadays, almost anyone can have a tattoo. Some serious-looking professionals might even surprise you when they tell you that they have a tattoo. Tattoos have evolved in the sense that people are now more open to the idea of getting ink under their skin.

Women too have embraced tattoos. Since along with the evolution of people’s perception is the evolution of tattoo designs, women now have more choices when they decide to get tattooed. This is a far cry from the time when tattoos were thought to be for men only. Today, tattoos can still show your femininity.

If you are a woman planning to get tattooed, it pays to do research. You have to make sure that the design you’ll be getting is the design that you really want. If you are stumped for ideas, then perhaps you can take inspiration from a popular choice among women: butterfly foot tattoos.

Getting a butterfly foot tattoo shows beauty and femininity, but in a subtle way. Having the tattoo on your foot means that the design won’t always show, and this is a good thing especially if you work in a corporate setting. After all, although people have embraced tattoos, tattoos can still look out of place in some business situations. You can cover up your butterfly foot tattoo while you are at work, but you can flaunt the tattoo all you want at home and during weekends.

The butterfly foot tattoo looks especially feminine when you are wearing strappy sandals; imagine going out on a date and surprising the guy with a little detail. The tattoo may be simple, but it would still get noticed. Showing off your tattoo at the beach is also a good idea. Wearing flip-flops or going barefoot works well with the tattoo design, because the design is seen in all its glory.

While the butterfly design is common among women, keep in mind that tattoo artists have different interpretations of the design. You do not have to worry about choosing a common and ordinary design, because most tattoo artists would tweak the design according to your preference. You could even ask them to make a design for you.

If you do decide to get tattooed, you can ask around for advice from friends who have gotten tattoos. That way, you’ll know which tattoo artist can give you the best butterfly design. Don’t hesitate to voice out your concerns regarding the design, because at the end of the day, it’s your tattoo, and you’ll be the one who’ll be living with it for the rest of your life. Unless you decide to get that pricey laser treatment, that is.
