The way people see tattoos have immensely changed over the years. Before, tattoos were a symbol of toughness, and rightly so, because back then the tattooed people were mostly brusque men. Tattoos were limited to men who rocked onstage or rode huge motorbikes. However, how people see tattoos now is a far cry from the situation back then.

The change in people’s perception of tattoos can be attributed to the media. Women from Hollywood getting tattooed, and of course, ordinary women look up to these stars as their style inspiration. Not only that, but there are now several television shows featuring tattoos and tattooed. These TV shows, like Miami Ink,  have really been instrumental in breaking the stereotypes about tattoos, and they showed that it is normal for women to walk into a tattoo parlor.
